FAQ

What makes The Ruby Apothecary different?

  • Every tea, honey, and remedy is crafted in small batches by hand, rooted in the heritage my grandmother Ruby and my family's nursing legacy. I never use essential oils - only whole herbs, spices, raw local honey, and home brewed vinegar. These steps ensure you receive safe, natural support for your everyday rituals.

How do I brew the teas?

  • All teas are loose leaf, and each tea tin includes brewing instructions on the label.
  • In general: use 1-2 teaspoons per 8 oz cup of hot water. Steep 5-15 minutes for most blends. Cover while steeping to keep the herbal oils from escaping. Then, enjoy!

How long will my products last?

  • Teas: Best within 12-18 months of purchase if kept in a cool, dry place.
  • Infused Honeys: Shelf stable but best consumed within 24 months. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Avoid added moisture.
  • Oxymels: Typically within 12 months.
  • Salves: Best used in 12-18 months of opening.

Do your products contain caffeine?

  • All products are caffeine-free and designed for grounding, daily use.

Are the honeys safe for children?

  • Herbal honeys are safe for most ages, but like all honey, do not give to children under 1 year of age.

Where do you source your ingredients?

  • I use a mix of homegrown herbs, trusted U.S. organic and regenerative farms, and sustainable wildcrafting when available. Every ingredient is chosen with care for quality and alignment with herbal tradition and sustainability.

Ruby and I

Ruby's home was the safest place in the world. Her warmth, love, and wisdom shaped so much of who I am today. This photo, circa 1988, reminds me of the legacy of care and connection she passed down.
